Crime… and its Aftermath

GETTING TICKETS: Lesson 1

  • A ticket (like a speeding ticket, or a seat belt ticket, or a ticket for going through a stop sign) is actually called a citation. When you get one, you are cited for breaking a law.
  • A law enforcement officer signals you to stop by flashing his lights and sounding the siren behind you.
  • You must stop as soon as you can safely pull over to the side of the road or into a parking lot.
  • When the officer asks, you must provide your driver’s license, the car registration, and proof you have liability insurance.
  • ALWAYS carry your license, registration, and proof of insurance with you when you drive. You can get a ticket for not having them!
