License, Insurance, and Registration Please

Buying or Selling Your Car: Lesson 1

Protect Your Right to Register Your Car!

  • Tennessee can take away your car registration and/or your driver’s license if your unacceptable behavior falls into certain categories, like:
    • You lied about something important to get your car registered.
    • The vehicle was parted out or wrecked (declared a total loss for insurance purposes).
    • You did not pay the fee to renew the registration for another year.
    • You move the license plate to another car to make it look legally licensed.
  • It can be difficult and expensive to get your registration and license back once you lose either one.
  • It can leave a stain on your history as a driver and law abiding citizen that can make other areas of your life difficult, as covered in other modules in this course.
