When a Relationship Goes Violent

  • Domestic Assault, commonly called domestic violence, is an assault on someone related by blood, marriage, in a dating relationship, or even roommates.
  • Most domestic violence happens between spouses or boyfriends and girlfriends, but it can include siblings, and exes.
  • Domestic violence is habitual behavior intended to control an intimate partner.
  • Domestic violence is about power and control of one person over another. It consists of assaults and threats, and involves psychological, sexual and physical abuse.
  • It can involve threats, annoying phone calls and stalking, unwanted touching and hitting, and destruction of property.
