SEXUAL ASSAULT, SEX OFFENDERS, AND YOUR RIGHTS: Lesson 3

How to Protect Yourself From Becoming a Date Rape Victim

  • Don’t accept drinks from other people.
  • Open drink containers for yourself.
  • Hold your drink, and take it with you EVERYWHERE or dump it down a drain.
  • Don’t share drinks, or drink from punch bowls or other multiple serving containers. They might already be “spiked.”
  • Don’t drink anything that tastes or smells strange or salty
  • If you left your drink even for a little while, pour it out
  • If you are drinking alcohol, make sure to have a non-drinking friend to make sure nothing happens.
  • If you are not drinking alcohol and start to feel drunk, get help immediately.
