Does the Tenant Have to Keep the Place in Good Shape?

  • Under Tennessee law, you must keep your apartment or space in as good a condition as you got it.
  • You are responsible for getting rid of your garbage and keeping the place clean and safe.
  • You must not deliberately damage, destroy, or deface the property – or let anyone else do that.
  • You must not engage in illegal behavior in the rented place.
  • You must not do things that disturb the neighbors.
