Tennessee as a “Right to Work” State

  • Tennessee is what’s known as a “right to work” state.
  • Tennessee is what’s known as a “right to work” state.
  • That means that if you are hired by an employer that has some workers who belong to a labor union, you cannot be forced to join the union just to have the job.
  • It also means you get paid the same amount, and get the same benefits, as the union workers do, even if you don’t join the union.
